Amigos de las Americas is a non-profit organization that prepares and sends high school and college youth to Latin America for 5-8 weeks. Amigos volunteers from the Salt Lake chapter are partnered with one or two other volunteers from throughout the US.

The volunteers live with a host family and are immersed in the Spanish language and culture of the region. During their stay in their individual communities, volunteers assess the community's needs and develop a Community Based Initiative that will improve that community. Then they can either apply for a Amigos funding grant or organize fundraising efforts to accomplish their goals. Returning volunteers praise the Amigos program for having improved their Spanish fluency and for providing many opportunities for personal growth.

The Salt Lake Chapter of Amigos has been in place since 2002.  During our short history, we have sent over 60 Amigos volunteers on summer projects in Latin America. To apply through our chapter or for additional information, please contact:
