Financial Aid & Scholarship Information

Financial Aid

•         Aid is determined solely by financial need 

•         Amigos de las Americas International Office provides financial aid of up to $500

•         The Salt Lake City Chapter matches the financial aid awarded by the International Office dollar-for-dollar

•         IMPORTANT – Financial Aid Applications MUST be completed and submitted at the volunteer interview for consideration

Scholarships (Needs Based)

•         Financial need-based scholarships are available for exemplary volunteers in addition to financial aid

•         Scholarship pays the portion of the family fee not covered by financial aid except for a small portion (minimum $500determined by the Scholarship Committee)

•         Scholarship application deadline – At or before the Kick-Off Dinner

•         Application Requirements

Ø Letter from volunteer explaining why he/she wants to be an Amigo and what makes that person unique (exemplary)

Ø Student transcript for the previous 2 years

Ø 2 recommendation letters from non-relatives (Spanish teacher recommendation letter is encouraged)

•         Scholarship awards will be announced after the January Board meeting.

     If the scholarship is not granted and the volunteer applicant cannot afford the family fee, je/she may withdraw by January 31 and receive a full refund of any family fee paid by the volunteer family.
