We welcome you to the website of the Salt Lake City Chapter of Amigos de las Americas.  Amigos de las Americas is a non-profit organization that prepares and sends high school and college youth to Latin America for 5-8 weeks.  Amigos volunteers live with a host family and are immersed in the Spanish language and culture of the region.  During their stay in their individual communities, volunteers assess the community's needs and develop a Community Based Initiative that will improve that community.  Then they can apply for a Amigos funding grant or organize fundraising efforts to accomplish their goals.  Returning volunteers praise the Amigos program for having improved their Spanish fluency and for providing opportunities for personal growth.
